The Twins are born!

Image
It’s been a whirlwind of a couple of days! Baby A and Baby B BOTH arrived at 8:53 pm on October 25, 2018 We had to do a c-section, but all went very smoothly. Baby Awas 20 inches long, and 6lbs 4 ounces. Baby B was 19 inches and 5lbs 9 ounces. Current prayer requests: 1. Babies are struggling to keep their glucose up. If this continues, they will need IV glucose in the NICU. The staff is doing all they can to help us Lee the babies with Mommy. We are currently supplementing my supply with donor breast milk. 2. I have slept about 2-3 hours since waking up on Thursday the 25th. I need rest so I can avoid infection and keep up a milk supply.  3. Praise God that the boys were able to be with us in the first place. It’s really typical for them to need 12 hours in the NICU for breathing at the age they were born. I assure you, they each have a very healthy set of lungs!

35 Weeks Pregnant

Today’s Doctor appointment went well. The twins have plenty of fluid and were flipping around just fine during the ultrasound. There’s plenty of room for Johnathan to flip yet. BabyB went from breach to head down during the ultrasound. Baby A went from transverse (laying sideways) to breach during the ultrasound. He needs to finish with a flip. I have already made progress that should shorten labor as well. So anytime now! We just need sweet Baby A to  flip! Prayer Requests: - Patience for me waiting for God’s time. - Drew to get better quickly. He is battling something and needs rest and healing. - The boys to stay healthy - I think I may have caught this thing too. Quick healing for me. - My 1st and 2nd Born and their emotions. They seem extra emotional lately. - Baby A to flip head down. And stay there! This is a profile picture of Twin B. We couldn’t get Twin A this time.                      ...

33 weeks with Twins. I’m really happy to see there’s still a belly button there. I haven’t seen it for a while now.

The Boy Mom Life

Image
Being a boy Mom is never dull! Bugs, dirt, farts, love, sweet hugs, sports, stinky socks… It’s all a part of this unique privilege. For those of us with a girly side, there’s also a bit of gritting our teeth and getting dirty with them. From the dirt to the silly things they say, we CAN laugh and LOVE being their Moms. And we can do our best to teach these boys to be men who love God, love others, and walk humbly with God. It’s a high calling. Because someday, your sweet boy will be a sweet girl’s husband. It’s our profound privilege to teach them now how to respect women, say they are sorry, take responsibility for their own actions, be responsible for their own things, and not make their wives be a second Mom. Wow! What an honor right?!

Update: It's TWO BOYS!

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018, we excitedly went in for the 20 week and FIRST ultrasound. We couldn't wait to have the baby's gender put into an envelope to give to our dear friend who was throwing us a gender reveal party! We had decided to wait until the 20 week anatomy scan for the first ultrasound since research isn't clear on the effects to the baby. Finally, my name was called and we all went back. The whole tribe! We wanted our boys to get to see their baby brother or sister too. The doppler touched my belly and then was quickly lifted away as the Ultrasound Tech said, "Ok, we have something we need to talk about." COMPLETE SHOCK followed as she said, "We have two babies." I quickly turned to Drew and said, "I TOLD you it was twins! I TOLD you!" (I had asked them to check for a second heartbeat at every appointment.) Drew sat in the chair with both boys climbing on him, hand over his face, trying to breathe deeply. I'm glad he was alre...

Love Your Skin This Summer

As a boy Mom, I end up spending a lot of time outside. There's just something about the outdoors that boys love. Sticks, mud, bikes, puddles... They just plain love the outdoor life in a way that is so different from the little girls I meet.    I remember almost dying of embarrassment as my boys picked up grass and dumped it on each other's heads saying they were taking showers! I mean, it's the OPPOSITE of a shower! REALLY?! They are going to dump GRASS and DIRT on each other?! Yep. They are. They are boys. The thing is, I'm still a girl, and I still love my skin and want to keep it young forever (I know it's going to change, but I like to prevent cancer from over exposure to the sun. So, 10 minutes of, nice, Vitamin D rich sunshine and on goes the sunscreen. What I didn't realize for the LONGEST time is that I was actually putting on junk that was more toxic than sun exposure and could actually have cancer causing ingredients in them! I was appalled when I fo...

The Growing Tribe

Image
By now you're probably wondering why you haven't heard from me in a very long time. I'm honestly not great at doing things on a super scheduled basis for one. With boys, it just seems like I have needed to learn how to roll with how the day turns out and that often means prioritizing my boys over writing a blog. Which is crazy to me, because, a lot of days, I would rather be writing to all of you than doing all the 'boy things'. LOL Growing Baby #3 has really taken it out of me energy wise too. I have been extra exhausted this pregnancy and I am not sure why. I can't decide if it's because I am older than with the other two or if having two very active boys plays into it. But I honestly have felt like I could sleep 18 hours a day! I'm researching ways to help my body to support this new little life while letting me still have SOME energy. It seems this baby is sucking my energy AND my brains. But I just can't wait to meet him or her. I absolutel...

Chaos, Rest, and Starting Over

Image
You know the days? The ones where life just bowls you over and, there you stand. It’s 1AM and you feel like you haven’t made ONE. SINGLE. DENT. in the work load for the day! I barely got my kids in bed (11:15 PM friends!). I don’t like them going to bed that late ever! (Except maybe on New Years Eve). I mean, who puts their kids to bed THAT late?! All the crazies, right? Apparently I was wrong on that, because I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy. That pile of laundry? It's on OUR bed. Not the guest bed. (We don’t have one of those. Well, we do, it’s an air mattress. We like our friends and like them visiting. And, someday, they will have a guest suite if I can manage it. But that’s a rabbit trail...) The bed doesn't even have sheets on it yet! I took them off to wash them. (Yes, I was going to do 15 loads of laundry in ONE day! I KNOW it’s crazy guys! I really do, so maybe I AM crazy. LOL But that’s how I roll. I set unrealistic goals and welll.... THIS!) The toys n...

Homemade Mayo

Image
As I looked at jar after jar of mayo in the store I found myself becoming more and more discouraged. Every one of them had something in it that I didn't want in MY mayo from sugar to 'natural flavor'. I mean what IS Natural Flavor anyway?! I would really like to know what I am putting into my body here. But you really can't know what that is, and they don't have to tell you. It's proprietary.... Natural Flavor often contains things that can disrupt your endocrine system, digestive system, and immune system. So, I decided to make my own. And, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it really was! Here's the recipe for you! You will need: 2 Large Organic Eggs (AT ROOM TEMPERATURE) 2 TBS Organic Digon Mustard 2 TBS Red or White Wine Vinegar 1/4 tsp pink sea salt (or more to taste) 2 Cups neutral flavored oil (like grape seed or safflower) 3-5 drops Lemon Vitality Essential Oil (You can get yours here .)
