So You’re Having Twins

 First of all, Congratulations!

Second, this is survivable! ;) I am still here to tell you about it! :)

I had a 4 year old, 3 year old and added newborn twins to the mix. I won’t lie to you and say it was easy. But, I will give you tips so you don’t walk into this blind. So, here goes!

1. CHOOSE to focus on the sweet moments.

2. Don’t plan on doing this alone! You’re going to have to be humble enough to ask for help. Lots of help! I was blessed with so many women surrounding me who helped in various ways.

A list of things that helped:

 a. meals  brought to you (like, for the first year. Not just a couple months)

b. someone to hold babies

c. having someone clean

d. having someone do laundry

e. Someone to watch the older two while the twins and I napped.

f. A couple of people on call willing to come over and help if you get sick.

3. You can show my blog post, “My wife is Having Twins” to your husband. ;) Your husband will need to help. I go into detail for them in that post. https://www.boymomtribe.com/2022/03/My%20wife%20is%20having%20twins%20.html

4. Make date night a priority. I didn’t do this. And I regret it. I wish I had made my husband a little bit more of a priority. It’s incredibly hard in this season, but it would’ve made a world of difference in our marriage.

5. City select double stroller. THE BEST for going out! You can get the boogie board so you can fit 3 on the stroller. And it makes going out a lot less scary. 5. If I had to do it over I would 100% get this. https://weego.com/products/weego-twin

6. This baby carrier is also a lifesaver when they’re a couple months old. TwinGo Carrier - Air Model - Cool Grey - Great for All Seasons - Breathable Mesh - Fully Adjustable Tandem or 2 Single Baby Carrier for Men, Woman, Twins and Babies 10-45 lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F79BJJH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FDC26S5Y95RNHGC0XW2D

7. Start a routine with the current littles that lets them do some things. Start a habit of hubby helping now so it’s not a shock later.

8. Don’t worry about potty training them unless it’s before babies come. But, expect a regression if you potty train ahead of time. ;)  I waited until the twins were about 1 to train my second born.
